The Fairy Villages of Winding Trails

Well Fairy Houses don't exactly fly, they are miniature villages built of nature materials like twigs, feathers, berries and shells. These can be seen every year at Winding Trails' "Nature's Open House" an annual Fall event. This year it's on October 1 and 2. You could stretch a point and say that maybe the fairies fly in and inhabit the houses when we're not watching...who knows? Here is a link to the slideshow I made about

For those who didn't make it to the shore this weekend...

Such a delight were these graceful shorebirds at sunset. I took these photos near Sandy Point, West Haven, Connecticut. Lengthiest subject is a determined Snowy Egret, trying all manners of forays in and out of the water in pursuit of the ultimate dinner. Later he joins a colony of swans who eye him suspiciously and off to the side, a community of gulls teaches their teenaged young how to fly.

Lovely Snowy Egret looking for his dinner on West Haven Shore









These photos taken near Sandy Point, Connecticut in August in the bright sun of late afternoon. Photos of this snowy egret and other birds will be featured in this week's TV show in my slideshow series, "Natural Delights" on Nutmeg TV in Connecticut.  Airings are on September 6 and 13, 2011 at 7:30PM, Channel 5 or 99.
